The Prep Celebrates All Saint's Day

Students, faculty, and staff took time to remember those members of the St. John's Prep community who have passed away in the last year at this morning's All Saint's Prayer Service. To also recognize the Mexican holiday Dia de los Muertos, students in Spanish classes created an "ofrenda," decorated with marigolds along with photos and meaningful objects from loved ones who have passed. All were then invited to write the names of deceased loved ones, to be transcribed in St. John's Book of Life. Joanne Tavenese, the Prep's Director of Advancement Analytics and Services, gave a meaningful reflection on someone who embodies and models what it means to be a saint. Ms. Tavenese recognized her parents for their humility for helping those in their community that were in need. The jazz band, led by music teacher Seelan Manickam, provided music for the service.
