The Mayors of Titletown!

Congratulations to the St. John's Prep winter sports teams who are wrapping up an incredible winter season. The Prep's wrestling team claimed its second consecutive all-state championship and third straight division 1 state championship last week and the alpine skiing team followed up with its second straight state championship on Wednesday, March 1.

The wrestling team is also D1 North champions for the fourth year in a row. St. John's will now defend its New England Championship crown this upcoming weekend. Individually, the Eagles' wrestlers have cleaned up this season with three sectional champions (Alex Schaeublin '23, Elias Hajali '23, Rawson Iwanicki '23), two D1 state champions (Schaeublin, Iwanicki), and two all-state champions (Schaeublin, Iwanicki).

The alpine skiing program has now won two state titles in the last two seasons—its first time going back-to-back, and fourth overall. Behind strong performances from Josh Haarmann '25 in the giant slalom and slalom events, and Henry Coote '24 and Owen McLain '26 in the slalom. Sam Charrette '25 had a big giant slalom run for the Prep as well as Cole Hosmer '24.

On the track, the Eagles had an incredible end to the 2022–2023 indoor season as the Prep's track & field team, placed second at the 2023 D1 MIAA State Championships at the Reggie Lewis Track & Athletic Center. The 4x200 relay team of Chris McDonough '23 (Catholic Conference MVP), Brady Pallotta '23, Brendan Burke '24, and Cooper Johnson '23 won with a blazing time of 1:32.86. McDonough also took fourth in the one-mile (4:20.61).

The fencing team placed third at the state championships last week with standout performances from a number of student-athletes.
