On Stage With Sebi Ghiu '27

Sebi Ghiu '27 shares his experience on stage playing Isaac Jaggard in the spring festival production of "The Book of Will".

In the midst of February Break rehearsals, Sebi Ghiu is hard at work in Kaneb Theater bringing the last few pieces of the show together before they take the show to the Massachusetts Educational Theater Guild Drama Festival Prelims.

Q: What's on the docket for rehearsal today?

A: So today we're just running through the show a bunch to get a feel for our transitions and the flow, while also running in costumes for the first time. So it's pretty exciting.

Q: What was the moment you knew you loved being on stage?

A: The moment I knew I loved being on stage was in elementary school when I did a solo at the winter concert. From that moment I knew that I loved to perform for people.

Q: Did you have experience in acting before SJP?

A: Before high school theater, I did theater in the middle school here where I was a part of some amazing shows like "The Addams Family", "The Witches" and "The Love of Oranges", which just continued my love for theater and performing.

Q: What was going through your mind during the audition process?

A: During auditions, I knew that I just wanted to work as hard as I could and know that whatever the result was, that I did my best.

Q: What's your favorite part of theater at St. John's?

A: My favorite part is always festival, which is what we're currently doing. You get to meet a lot of different people from different schools and see a bunch of different shows, and the community is really great.
