St. John's is proud to announce Vision 2032, St. John’s new strategic plan. This community-wide effort builds upon the accomplishments of Prep 20/20 and charts a bold course forward as we approach our 125th anniversary. Guided by our mission and Xaverian identity, Vision 2032 will ensure that our students continue to learn, grow, and lead in an environment that educates the whole person.
Vision 2032 is organized around four key pillars:
- Pillar I: Capital Improvements: We will modernize facilities to better serve our students and community. Among the first projects to move forward is the renovation of Memorial Dining Hall, which will be transformed into the new Student Commons, a dynamic dining and gathering space that will serve as the heart of campus life. This modern facility will foster connection, collaboration, and community in ways that reflect the needs of today’s students. Our community has been clear: a vibrant Student Commons is essential to nourishing both the bodies and minds of Prep students, and the time to act is now.
- Pillar II: Endowment: Our community has reminded us that our mission is the reason families entrust their sons to St. John’s. With this in mind, we will grow our endowment to ensure that no qualified student is denied a Prep education for financial reasons, and to provide lasting support for our faculty, programs, and long-term institutional strength.
- Pillar III: Enrollment Vibrancy: We will develop a comprehensive enrollment management strategy that sustains a vibrant and diverse student body and positions St. John’s for continued success. Our community has encouraged us to reach more deeply into the cities and towns we serve in order to identify and support students who would thrive at the Prep if given the opportunity.
- Pillar IV: Pathways to Excellence: You value our commitment to creating a balanced and enriching experience for your sons. We will continue to be intentional in strengthening our approach to educating boys by enhancing curriculum, expanding student life opportunities, and supporting faculty and staff formation. This pillar affirms our commitment to academic excellence, personal formation, and the holistic development of every student.
As part of Pillar I, we are especially excited to share plans for the new Student Commons. This project will renovate Memorial Dining Hall, transforming it into a modern, light-filled space designed to bring our community together for meals, collaboration, and connection. The Student

Commons will also house several Student Life offices, which will move from their current locations into the new space to create a centralized hub where students can gather, access support, and build community. Together, these enhancements will strengthen relationships and bring our mission to life each day. We are pleased to share these initial renderings below, which illustrate how this new space will enhance the Prep experience. Additional details about project timing and logistics will be shared in the months ahead.
By addressing areas like campus growth, financial stability, enrollment, and excellence in and out of the classroom, we will be able to provide an even deeper, richer experience for every student who walks through our doors.
To quote Theodore Ryken, founder of the Xaverian Brothers, “Nothing special is achieved without much effort, labor, and zeal.” The success of this plan will depend on all of us—our shared vision, our generosity, and our belief in the mission and values that define St. John’s Prep.
As Vision 2032 comes to life, we invite you to learn more about the work already underway and the initiatives that will shape our future. On the Vision 2032 website, you’ll find details about each of the four pillars, highlights from the Pathways to Excellence initiatives focused on educating and forming young men, and information about projects like the new Student Commons, which will transform the way our community connects and gathers. Together, these efforts reflect our deep commitment to providing an exceptional educational experience, now and in the years to come.
