Meet Our Honorees

The Carnevale Family

The Carnevale family—Anthony and Joanne P’81 ’82 GP’07 ’16; John, J.D. ’81 P’07 (in memoriam), Linda P’07, Max ’07, and Ava (Heaslet); Jim ’82 P’16, Deb P’16, Lydia, and Jay ’16—have been a cornerstone of the St. John’s Prep community for generations. Together, Anthony, John, and Jim cofounded Sentinel Benefits, a financial services and employee benefits company grounded in integrity, service, and hard work—values that define the entire Carnevale family to this day. After John’s passing in 2016, the John A. Carnevale ’81 Fund was established to support students who share John’s passion for St. John’s Prep and his dedication to uplifting others.

Whether through scholarships, student mentorship, alumni engagement, or committee service, the Carnevale family’s impact is profound and lasting. John’s passion for connecting alumni, Jim’s leadership with advancement initiatives, and the next generation’s dedication to giving back exemplify the essence of the St. John’s brotherhood. Their enduring legacy ensures that the values of generosity, leadership, and community will continue to shape the lives of Prep students for years to come.

J. Peter Frates ’03 and 1st Lt. Derek S. Hines ’99 Servant Leadership Award

Lt. Col. Dick and Christine Moody | Operation Troop Support

Dick and Christine Moody exemplify the true spirit of servant leadership through their unwavering dedication to supporting U.S. service members and their families. Since 2003, their nonprofit, Operation Troop Support, has sent more than 1.2 million personalized care packages to active-duty military personnel, providing comfort and connection to those serving far from home. For many years, St. John’s students and families have actively volunteered with Operation Troop Support. A retired U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. and Vietnam War veteran, Dick understands the sacrifices of military life firsthand. When their own children were deployed, the Moodys rallied volunteers and supporters to ensure no soldier felt forgotten. Christine, the “heart and soul” of the operation, has been by Dick’s side every step of the way, sorting donations and spearheading initiatives to expand their impact. This selfless service and unwavering commitment to others makes them truly deserving recipients of the inaugural J. Peter Frates ’03 and 1st Lt. Derek S. Hines ’99 Servant Leadership Award.
