P-R-E-P PREP! PREP! PREP!

ATHLETICS

The Prep’s athletic tradition is built on the core principles of sportsmanship, hard work, and putting the team above yourself. Head coaches are masters at challenging and inspiring. Captains model humility after wins and honor after defeat. Ultimately, what is born out of the athletic experience is an unshakable brotherhood, one that lasts a lifetime.

Teams, Schedules, and Results

Strength and Conditioning

Strength and conditioning is an integrated part of the athletics program and is accessible to all students, whether they play on a team or not. Student-athletes have dedicated lift days, yoga classes, or recovery sessions with our certified strength and conditioning team, learn about safe workout practices, when to push and when to prioritize recovery, and how sleep and nutrition play a role in physical fitness.

“There are so many moments that matter to an athlete’s journey—the times they learn to get back up, push a little harder, or support their teammates. Those are the moments I'm here for.”

Ana Tocco
Head Strength and Conditioning Coach

O'Brien Student-Athlete Leadership Initiative

The O'Brien Student-Athlete Leadership Initiative Fund was established by Colleen and Bill O'Brien '88 to improve collaboration between academic and athletic leadership on campus.

Through a series of workshops, guest speakers, and team service, the goal of the initiative is to ensure the work of Prep coaches and student-athletes positively impacts the Prep community. Because good players are good people too.

Leadership is a skill you practice, just like any other. These on-campus speakers have helped our student-athletes hone their leadership abilities.

Athletic Hall of Fame

The St. John's Prep Athletic Hall of Fame was established in 1985 to recognize alumni, coaches, and supporters for outstanding contributions to the athletic program at the Prep. Their commitment, achievement, and sense of sportsmanship set the standard for the young athletes who follow in their footsteps today.

Support Your Sport

If you're an alum, you remember the experience: early morning lifts, maybe a long drive to the pool. Working out in Memorial Gym. Running in freezing rain or blaring sun. The crack of the bat. The student section going wild. Coaches and captains who stood by your side through tough moments and triumphs, who you would support in a heartbeat in return.

Being a Prep athlete is so much more than wearing the blue and white. It shapes your character, the way you see the world, and how you hold yourself years after you graduate.

Being an Eagle is so much more than putting on a jersey. It's an experience that shapes who you are.
