“Role Play” an original piece written by the cast and crew
Directed by Kate Sheridan
August 9, 10, 11
"Role Play" is an original play that was developed and written as a collaborative ensemble. The play, as described by the cast and crew, is a "brand-new, age-old, wholesome teenage love story.” The play follows a group of teenagers in a near-utopian society, where peace is kept by following the rules of "The Book." When the teens come to the cultural milestone of being "matched," they are assigned a romantic partner. The process inevitably gets complicated, bringing nerves, angst, personality clashes and more than a few questions about living by “The Book."
In the words of director Kate Sheridan, “We started our process with a lot of research and discussion, re-imagining songs, scenes, and monologues with different gender relationships, and improvising, experimenting, and unpacking ideas of how we learn what we learn.”
“Role Play” members of the cast and crew include: Sam Baylow ’20, Casey Beriau ’21, Cameron LaPierre ’21, Chris Pocharski ’22, Cait Etzel, Hannah Verdun, Maddie Mazuzan, Carolina Soto, Kara Bailen, Lilli Peluso, Samantha DeMarco, and Shelby Geaney.
Please note: "Role Play" contains some mild language, romantic theme, and innuendo.
