April 16: Tuesday of Holy Week
Posted 04/16/2019 09:55AM

During Holy Week, the poignancy of the story of Peter’s denial of Jesus is not diminished by any of the many other stories which make the week what it is. Peter himself confessed belief in the better likelihood even of the miracle of Christ’s resurrection than of the “impossibility” of his three-fold rejection of Jesus. Finding himself fallen far short in faithfulness to Jesus, was the greater miracle in Peter’s mind. But, just as the miracle of the resurrection shows our fallen nature to ourselves (as it did to Peter), it shows also God’s power to remake each of us. That God makes of his disciples “a light to the nations” by which His salvation “may reach to the ends of the earth” is the meaning of the miracle of Easter. May we in the remaining days of Lent “proclaim His wondrous deeds.”
