Shoot Hoops with Pat Connaughton '11! The Portland Trailblazers' Pat Connaughton will offer a four-day basketball camp, from June 25 to 28, at St. John's. Open to girls and boys in grades 3 through 9. More information and registration at withusfoundation.org/events.
Connaughton—a 2011 graduate of St. John’s Prep and a shooting guard for the NBA’s Portland Trail Blazers—will be there to help run drills and exercises with his former Amateur Athletics Union (AAU) coach Mike Crotty Jr. of the Middlesex Magic. The camp promises to be a unique, fun, and invigorating training experience for children, teaching them sportsmanship, fundamentals, teamwork, and responsibility.
The camp will take place on the Wellness Center’s Connaughton Court on the St. John’s campus. The court was dedicated this past September in honor of the Prep’s all-time leading scorer, who graduated with 1,713 career points.
“I think it will be surreal to be able to start a tradition of going back to the place that helped shape me on a court named after me when I was just 24 years old,” says Connaughton. “To help kids from that area learn some of the lessons that I learned on that campus—in sports and in life—is really a unique opportunity.”
All proceeds will benefit the With Us Foundation, which Connaughton established in 2016 to provide young people with access and opportunities to learn life skills and values through sports.
