Reunion Weekend

Postponed: Reunion Weekend at the Prep, May 15, 16 and 17, 2020.

With a heavy heart, we made the decision to postpone all in-person Reunion and Commencement Weekend events scheduled for May 15–17, 2020, in celebration of classes ending in 0s and 5s. The Prep alumni community is strong because of the interpersonal connections fostered during your time here and by reconnecting with fellow graduates throughout your career. With that in mind, despite not being able to gather in person this spring, the Alumni Office will be seeking ways for classmates to reconnect digitally, and, next spring, reunions will be combined to celebrate together our graduates with class years ending in 0s, 1s, 5s, and 6s.

Though the decision to cancel or postpone all external events during the uncertain spread of COVID-19 has been difficult, our number one priority is the health and safety of our alumni, students, faculty, and staff. St. John's Prep continues to monitor developments related to COVID-19 closely. Our actions and decisions have been guided by recommendations and guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH).

We want to extend a big thank-you to members of your Reunion Committees, who have volunteered their time helping to plan the weekend and reach out to classmates to generate excitement. Our team and your committee members will continue to have conversations around alternative programming beginning now throughout the rest of spring to celebrate reunion. We encourage you to reach out to fellow committee members with any suggestions or feedback of how best to get your classmates involved and excited. We remain hopeful that once it comes time to safely gather in groups again, that we can plan to all celebrate your milestone year.

Our seniors in the class of 2020 were informed that many of the celebrations leading into their graduation and their Commencement itself would be postponed. For many of our students and families this has been difficult, but it lands especially hard on these seniors who will not have the traditional and rewarding experience of closing out their hard work as a Prep student.  As alumni, we can all remember the excitement and joy around the final few weeks of senior year and can imagine how heartbreaking it was for our current upperclassmen to hear this news. The alumni office has directed much of its focus and resources towards supporting the Class of 2020 as they transition into our alumni community, and, as Reunion Alumni who will share this same celebration cycle with this class for years to come, we are going to be asking for your special participation over the coming months in an effort to reach out to and welcome the Class of 2020 into the Prep's incredible Alumni Community .

In the meantime, here are a few ways to stay connected to St. John's Prep and your classmates from home:
