sold out!

This annual tournament now supports two scholarships for students attending St. John’s — the Brother Linus, C.F.X. Scholarship and the John Carnevale '81 Scholarship. The Linus Tournament supports our belief that a Prep education should be available for every qualified young man, regardless of financial need. While this year’s tournament is sold out, there are a number of ways to be involved and support these important programs:

  • Purchase a sponsorship
  • Enter the annual Premier Golf Course drawing for a guaranteed chance to play at one of the area’s most exclusive private courses.
  • Take a chance on winning a spectacular getaway package to the world famous Medinah Country Club in Chicago! (Details forthcoming on both the Premier Golf Course drawing and Medinah getaway package.)

Brother Linus, C.F.X.

In his inimitable and unassuming way, Brother Linus was a giant at St. John’s. As a teacher, guidance counselor, 3-sport coach and mentor, he transformed the lives of countless students. The Brother Linus Scholarship, established in his honor in 1978, is presented annually to a rising sophomore who has already distinguished himself in his brief career at the Prep through extracurricular activities and academic excellence. More than $1.7 million has been raised in Brother Linus' name, and we hope to continue to build his legacy in the years to come.

John Carnevale '81

John, former trustee, parent, and alumnus, passed away unexpectedly in 2016. He was the first recipient of the Brother Linus, C.F.X. Scholarship in 1978. As a long-time chairman of the tournament committee, John and his company Sentinel Benefits & Financial Group have proudly served as Presenting Sponsor of this event for many years. The John A. Carnevale '81 Scholarship was established by St. John’s Prep in partnership with Sentinel Cares and the Carnevale family in June 2016. The scholarship aims to provide resources that directly impact young men as they develop into leaders that live the mission of St. John's. The first recipient was selected in June 2017, and was a member of the Class of 2021.
