Middle School Applicants – Steps to Apply

Middle School Applicants

Step 1: Create your admission portal account by completing this inquiry form.

Step 2: Register for an admission test

Step 3: Schedule a student interview with a member of the Admission staff. An interview is required for all Middle School applicants. Please contact the Office of Admission at 978-624-1301 to schedule your interview.

Step 4: Come for a Shadow Day. Learn about our Eagle for a Day Program and then call the Admission Office at 978-624-1301 if your son would like to spend a day on campus! It's not required, but it's a great way for boys to learn more about what it's like to go to the Prep.

Step 5: Submit your online application with $50 fee. A complete application consists of:

  • Student Questionnaire
  • Parent Questionnaire
  • Demographic Information
  • Homeroom Teacher Recommendation (Grade 6 applicants only)
  • English Teacher Recommendation (Grades 7 and 8 applicants only)
  • Math Teacher Recommendation (Grades 7 and 8 applicants only)
  • Principal or Guidance Counselor Recommendation: This form also serves as the official transcript request. St. John's requires current year and two previous years.
  • Admission Testing
  • Interview: An interview is required for all Middle School applicants.

Step 6: If applying for tuition assistance, complete the tuition assistance application.

International Applicants

St. John’s Prep seeks to honor the diversity that enriches our school community and the world beyond St. John’s through accepting highly qualified international students. Currently, we work with an agency to enroll students from China, and more than 20 Chinese students attend St. John's. If you are interested in learning more about this program and the opportunities offered by St. John's, please note that St. John's:

  • Accepts international students into grades 9 and 10.
  • Offers dedicated faculty support for international students.
  • Provides counselors to assist students in college application and selection.
  • Is authorized by SEVIS to issue I-20 forms.
  • Tuition for international students, $33,875 for the 2019-2020 school year, reflects the additional services and supports provided for our international students.
All interested international students should email Michael Kelley '09, Assistant Director of Admission, for more information. If you are interested in becoming a host family for an international student at St. John's, please contact Mr. Kelley.
