“St. John’s gave me a sense of independence in my academia where—because we educate the whole person—I found my passions and applied them to my academic endeavors. The academic rigor here is tied to that piece and the person you become throughout your four years. It is rigorous, but the demands are really personalized to your passion, so it really doesn’t feel hard.”

"I came to St. John's interested in investment banking, but the entrepreneurship program opened my eyes and showed me you can take a good idea and go places. That changed everything for me. That, and an extremely challenging and supportive faculty."

"St. John's Prep is about relationships. Our faculty and staff willingly work to connect with their students. They are passionate about their work and appreciate the opportunity to serve as mentors knowing full well the responsibility that accompanies it. The commitment to modeling servant leadership is present each day here on campus and is a direct result of the caliber of people in our community. There is very real and important work being done here each day and I feel fortunate to be able to play my small role in it."

“St. John's gave me a safe place to grow, explore, learn, serve others, compete, and so much more. This place gave me and my classmates the quiet confidence to stand up for what is right because one person can make a difference.”

“The brotherhood here is real. When you get here and walk around campus, you don't feel like some ‘little freshman.’ You feel so welcome. All the upperclassmen are so amazing. And that’s kind of a cycle. Now, I want to be nice to the younger guys. With the facilities, the staff, teachers, coaches—everything is so top notch that everyone is so motivated to be the best they can be, and that brings out the best in other people as well. Especially in the classroom.”

“I think for me, the thing that struck me when I came to St. John’s was that there’s so much open to me to access and grab onto. I think if I went to any other school, I wouldn’t have had as many clear opportunities as I do here. I’ve picked up a bunch of electives like multimedia and video design, I founded the Eagle News broadcasts, I’ve done Model UN, the Investment Club, Crew. I don’t see myself doing all that somewhere else.”

"We have administrators and department heads who allow you to be who you are in the classroom. They don’t box you in and say, ‘This is what you’re teaching. This is how you’re teaching.’ Secondly would be our mission. It’s OK to lean into tough conversations in the classroom here. Because our focus is not just on these young men becoming good math students. Our focus is on them becoming good humans that we then send out into the world."

“I want my students to be better in their skillset. So, I want them to be better readers, writers, and thinkers, and to understand that learning is collaborative—that you can’t do it alone. It’s a team concept. I teach, I coach. It’s a team effort. I’m learning. They’re learning.”

"I'm happy to be back and reconnecting with everyone. The hands-on labs, the conversations in the dining hall, just bumping into friends in the hallways–these are some of the things I missed. We're renewing ourselves as a community and reestablishing our values."

“After emigrating to the United States from Mexico, I was uncertain about my son’s education with the lack of my own. However, the Prep stretched out their hand with a welcoming warmth to us. Over the past four years, I grew to find that the community helped me to discover a place that I could call my home.”

“The impact of the Prep extends far beyond the classroom. Not only did our sons receive an extraordinary education, but even more importantly, the foundation required to be life-long learned and leaders. In today's world, the Prep's holistic approach to educating the whole person is more important than ever.
