Dear Colleagues, At this time, there are no known presumptive positive or confirmed cases of COVID-19 among St. John's Prep students, parents, faculty, or staff members. Throughout the day, we have been closely tracking updates related to COVID-19 and have monitored the actions being taken by neighboring towns and peer institutions. In an abundance of caution we have canceled all classes, co-curricular activities, and athletic events Friday, March 13 through Tuesday March 17. We plan to use this time to evaluate the situation. We will share plans for beyond March 17 early next week. Faculty and staff are expected to report to campus tomorrow, March 13, for a meeting at 9:00 am. In order to avoid gathering in a large group, there will be breakout sessions across campus that will participate in an online meeting. Room assignments for tomorrow's meeting can be found here. If you need to be excused from coming to campus for this meeting please contact Keith Crowley. We know you may have questions. We will provide an opportunity to ask questions during our session tomorrow. If you have more immediate or individual concerns please email us and we will get back to you as soon as possible. Following our meeting the Academic Council will meet to discuss expectations and procedures for remote learning. Members of the administration will meet to discuss expectations and procedures for potential staff remote working options. Campus will close at 12:30 pm. A "grab and go" lunch will be available for all faculty and staff starting at 11:30 am in Memorial Dining Hall. Parents and students will receive a phone call and email later this evening with information regarding the decision to close. No new work will be assigned to students during this period (March 13 - March 17). We are instructing students to email any outstanding work to you. The Academic Council will be discussing specifics related to the close of the third marking period, outstanding assignments, and grading as we move forward. As new information is made available, we will provide updates on the School's Coronavirus Portal Page to keep members of the community up-to-date on issues related to the outbreak. Below our signatures you will see the messaging we have shared with parents and students. We realize these are challenging times. We appreciate your support as we determine a pathway forward. Let us continue to pray for one another as well as all those impacted by COVID-19. Peace and Prayers, Ed Hardiman, Ph.D. Headmaster Keith Crowley, Ph.D. Associate Head of School/Principal
