To Members of the Prep Community: As news about COVID-19, or coronavirus, develops, St. John's is following the situation closely. We are in close contact with the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and are prepared to take the appropriate steps needed to serve our campus community, both in the short term and long term. Tonight our facilities team will sanitize all hard surfaces in buildings across campus with a CDC-recommended antiviral cleaning agent that is effective against the seasonal flu as well as the coronavirus. Sanitization will continue on a weekly basis, as prescribed by the CDC. Our school nurses, Heidi Rubin and Margie Clifford, are in regular contact with public health authorities and we continue to monitor all developments concerning the coronavirus. In the unlikely event that our day-to-day functions are disrupted, Canvas, our learning management platform, and Google Apps for Education will be utilized to continue academic operations during any period of closure. We ask everyone to continue to take proactive precautions as recommended by public health authorities to prevent the spread of the virus. Because the coronavirus, in addition to influenza, is thought to spread mainly person-to-person through coughing or sneezing by infected people, it is important to take the following actions to stay healthy:
A group of Prep students traveled on a non school affiliated trip to northern Italy over February break. This region is now being affected by the coronavirus, and although there is no evidence that our students were exposed to the virus, their health is being monitored. If you or members of your family have traveled to areas that have been affected by the coronavirus, please contact the Nurse's Office at 978-774-1050 x384. 72 Spring Street • Danvers, Massachusetts 01923 • 978-774-1050 |
