Tuition and Assistance

The deadline to apply for tuition assistance for the 2026-2027 school year is December 1, 2025 for current families and January 5, 2026 for prospective families. You must select "St. John's Prep (Danvers, MA)" in order for us to receive your application.

St. John's uses the Clarity Financial Aid system to determine a family's expected contribution. When you complete the application, all of the financial and personal information that is provided is processed using a formula that determines the amount you will be able to pay. The remaining amount is your financial need.

In the case of a divorce or separation, St. John's considers the financial resources of both parents before making an award. We require each parent to contribute as much as Clarity Financial Aid calculates that each can afford. If either parent remarries, we take into consideration their obligations to their new family. We also consider the resources of a step-parent, keeping in mind that the primary responsibility to contribute to the cost of education rests with the child's parents.

Yes. Boys who qualify for the St. Francis Xavier Merit Scholarship are also eligible to receive need-based tuition assistance. Tuition assistance is awarded separately from merit scholarships.

St. John's Prep has a dress code. The dress code is similar for both Middle and High School students. Students must wear a collared, button-down shirt or a St. John's Prep polo, which is available in the school bookstore. Shirts must be tucked in at all times. Pants must be four-pocket dress pants of a solid color. Students must wear a belt and dress shoes and socks. During the winter, students may wear boots. Sweaters may be worn over shirts at any time. More details are listed in the student handbook which is available to enrolled students.

Admitted students will receive their tuition assistance award letters along with their letter offering admission. Returning students will receive their tuition assistance award letters in mid-February at the same time that the re-enrollment process begins.

We will consider requests for a review if a family wishes to provide relevant, new information it feels the school should have. Requests for appeals should be directed to Matthew Hyszczak, Director of Admission and Tuition Assistance.

For new families, tuition assistance applications will be considered on a rolling basis if received after the January 5 priority deadline based on the availability of tuition assistance. 

For returning families, tuition assistance applications will be considered on a rolling basis if received after the December 1 deadline based on the availability of tuition assistance. 

In some cases, we may wait-list an applicant who qualifies for admission if we cannot meet their demonstrated need.

St John's Prep offers the following payment plans:

• Pay in full (May)
• Semiannual (May, Nov)
• Quarterly (May, Aug, Nov, Feb)
• 10-Month Plan (May to Feb)

For new and returning students there is a non-refundable deposit of 10% of your tuition due by March 31. The deposit is due when your enrollment contract is signed.
