Day In the Life: Sandy G. '27

8:20 am - First Class, AP Economics
Sandy gets to campus a little before his first class. This year, he's taking AP Economics. As a junior, more opportunities in electives and AP classes have opened up, allowing Sandy to tailor his schedule close to his interests.
Like most AP courses, the curriculum is split between preparing for the particular content of the exam, while also giving a practical instruction around economic systems both domestic and abroad.
9:31 am - U.S. History
Sandy's next class takes him straight down the hall in Xavier, to U.S. History. This week, the class is preparing to wrap up a unit in the industrial revolution, before going on break at the end of the week for the holidays.

10:37 - English
Sticking in the same building, Sandy heads off to English, where the class is reading Arthur Miller's "The Crucible". Junior year English is focused primarily on American Literature, with Senior year focusing on specifically English Literature.
11:09 am - Lunch
Sandy heads then from Xavier to the Administration Building, where he has lunch in the Multi-Cultural Affairs and Community Development (MACD) lounge. He comes here for lunch most days, usually grabbing food from the cafeteria and brining it back to the lounge to eat with his friends.
12:38 pm - Relational Dynamics
After a lunch with friends, Sandy heads over to his Relational Dynamics class. Taking the place of where his Religion courses have been previously in his schedule, Relational Dynamics is taught by the same faculty as the Religious Studies classes, but focuses primarily on teaching about navigating relationships.
Whether it's a relationship with himself, others or his community, the class is a regular favorite for Juniors due to the real world skills it teaches.

1:34pm - Physics
Most students will take some form of physics in their junior year. Like most science classes at the Prep, Physics usually has a lab or experiment every week that sets the classroom lectures in context.
This week, the class is learning about the relationship between resistance, velocity and speed using weighted carts on tracks.
2:34-5:00 pm - Track Practice and ExtraCurriculars
Depending on the day and time in the years, Sandy will either be spending his afternoon at track practice or at one of a few extracurriculars. Today, he heads down to the Wellness Center and laces up for track. It's the start of the season which means the team will be working together on strength and conditioning before meets begin in the new year.
If he's not at practice, Sandy says he can often be found with the Black Student Union (BSU) at their regular meetings, or at the Cooking Club, which he's just joined recently.
