MISSION AND VALUES
St. John's Prep Mission Statement
St. John's Prep, an inclusive, Catholic, Xaverian Brothers Sponsored School for young men in grades 6 through 12, is committed to educating the whole person.
Our rigorous academic and extensive co-curricular program encourages students to develop their spiritual, intellectual, moral, physical, and creative potential, and inspires them to honor the diversity that enriches both our school community and the world beyond St. John's.
We challenge our young men to grow in faith and wisdom, to promote human dignity, to act with compassion and integrity, to pursue justice and peace, and to live lives of service to society.
Xaverian Spiritual Values
The five Xaverian spiritual values form the core of how the Xaverian Brothers and by extension, St. John's, seeks to think, feel, and act in the world. These values influence everything at the Prep, from academic curriculum to daily prayer life, service opportunities to athletic philosophy, and institutional decisions large and small.

The tenderness of heart that allows us to see and hear the needs of all, near and far.
Humility
The recognition that we are all both gifted and limited in our own unique ways.

Our Cultural Priorities
St. John's Prep has developed three cultural priorities that stem from our mission and from the Fundamental Principles of the Xaverian Brothers. We use this series of cultural priorities to guide the way we do our work and operate as an institution. Our goal is to make these priorities a lived reality in the lives of our students, parents, faculty, staff, coaches, and the greater St. John's Prep community.
If someone totally unfamiliar with St. John's spent a day on campus, what would they experience?
That's what we asked ourselves, and our cultural priorities are the answer—we hope everyone who steps foot on campus experiences our belief that all people are created in the image and likeness of God, that they are unique expressions of that love, and that we embrace a habit of excellence in all we do.

Servant Leadership
How can I influence every situation I encounter for the benefit of others?
How can I help? How can I be of service? How can I be others-oriented?
These are questions we ask of our students in all types of situations—in the classroom, during a class meeting, walking across the street, emailing a teacher—so that by the time they graduate, being a servant leader, someone who influences every situation they encounter for the benefit of others, is second nature.
