St. Francis Xavier Merit Scholarship Program

The St. Francis Xavier Merit Scholarship, open to talented incoming freshmen, fosters excellence, promotes leadership, nurtures character development and encourages service to others.

St. Francis Xavier Scholars receive a $4,000 merit-based scholarship for each of their four years at St. John's.

Our Philosophy

This merit scholarship program is named for St. Francis Xavier, patron saint of the Xaverian Brothers, the congregation of religious who sponsor St. John’s Prep and 12 other schools throughout the United States. Some 500 years ago, St. Ignatius Loyola, founder of the Jesuit order, urged Xavier to “set the world aflame” as he embarked on his journey as a missionary.
