Get Building! Robotics, Engineering, Kinex, and Art

Get Building!
Robotics, Engineering, Kinex, and Art

  • Session 1: June 25 – 28
  • Session 2: July 9 – 12

Do you like to build things? You'll love Get Building! This full day camp includes workshops on robotics, engineering, art, and Kinex.

Campers will explore the world of robots using Lego Mindstorms NXT. They will learn about the different parts of the robots and how they interact through a series of build and test projects. Multimedia facilities will aid the campers on their journey.

Hands-on engineering will be the focus of projects like bridge building, a paper tower challenge, and pinewood derby car racing. Campers will work in small groups to complete goals, learn basic engineering practices, and practice basic tool use. Design it, build it, test it!

Campers will also explore building through the world of Kinex. Using math and physics concepts, we will work on individual projects, and as a team to construct a 6-foot ferris wheel using more than 8,000 pieces! Kids will love the hands-on nature of this activity.

We'll explore the creative side of building through art with specialized instruction and individualized art projects throughout the week.

Get Creative! Kinex, Drama, Writing, and Art

Get Creative!
Kinex, Drama, Writing, and Art

July 9 – 12

Let your creative side go wild as we explore individual creativity in art, drama and writing. Using the popular Kinex, campers will apply concepts of architecture and form to create their own individual projects, and then join a team to design and construct something larger! It's creative and hands-on! Get Creative! also includes a drama workshop and plenty of time in our art studios, where campers can make their very own creations. We'll take advantage of the Prep's computer labs to explore creative writing and expression.

Get Artistic! Painting, Sculpting, Silk Screening and more

Get Artistic!
Painting, Sculpting, Silk Screening and more

July 16 – 19

Designed for the aspiring artist in all of us, this camp offers opportunities for campers to express their creativity through a variety of methods. Students will create individual works of art while learning new techniques and exploring new ideas. Thinking outside the box and pushing the limits of your creativity strongly encouraged! We will use different media and art forms including drawing, painting and sculpting. Campers should come ready to try new projects and new activities every day. Expect to see your campers come home with paint splattered clothes and smiling faces!

Get Outdoors! Archery, Environment, Fishing, Outdoor Games, and Swimming

Get Outdoors
Archery, Environment, Fishing, Outdoor Games, and Swimming

  • Session 1: July 9 – 12
  • Session 2: July 16 - 19

Love being outside? This is the camp for you. Campers will travel by van to a variety of freshwater spots to fish for a variety of species. Anglers will receive instruction on all aspects of fishing. If spending a summer afternoon on the water sounds like fun, this is the place for you!

Campers will also explore the natural world in our own backyard. We will employ a variety of field study techniques to learn, firsthand, about different ecosystems and the organisms that inhabit them. There will be a special focus on factors that threaten the health of these places and others like them.

There will be plenty of time for outside games and swimming, so bring your bathing suit! Campers will be tired at the end of the day and eager to come back for more!
