Annual Report of Giving
St. John’s represents an amazing blend of tradition and innovation. As a member of the Xaverian Brothers Sponsored Schools (XBSS) network, we embrace the values of the Brothers of St. Francis Xavier and we consider that one of our greatest strengths. The traditions represented by an XBSS education provide a foundation for enduring relationships that inspire a lifetime of learning, faith and service. Families choose the Prep, because like our alumni and other members of the school community, they understand the need for an education that prepares students for our increasingly global, diverse and ever-changing world.
This year we honor the Xaverian Brothers by adopting their value of simplicity as our theme. Rooted in the other Xaverian values of humility, trust, zeal, and compassion, simplicity is an inclusive way of thinking that embraces all persons and calls us to reach out to the poor and the marginalized.
As we reflect on the accomplishments of the 2012 school year, we offer our deepest appreciation for your support. Your generosity, totaling more than $2.2 million last year, makes a critical difference in the lives of our students every day. These examples demonstrate the power of philanthropy at St. John’s.
- Annual giving to The Fund for St. John’s totaled $1,227,236 in gifts from 2,087 trustees, parents, alumni, faculty & staff, grandparents, and friends. The Fund supports our daily operating expenses and helps to provide tuition assistance and merit scholarships to more than a third of students.
- We were able to open a newly expanded Fitness Center in Memorial Gymnasium. This new center opened in September and is the first step in our commitment to student wellness.
- The 1907 Society, our planned giving recognition society, welcomed fourteen new members with a total of more than $1,000,000 in anticipated bequests that will benefit future generations at St. John’s.
- Members of the Prep community endowed four new named funds, an important step in our commitment to increasing the Prep’s endowment.
Thanks to your support, we continue to honor our Xaverian legacy and fulfill our mission to educate young men of faith, wisdom, and brotherhood. It is a simple, but powerful mission.
Peace and warm regards,
