Computer Science

The Computer Science Department seeks to refine the training of all students in the uses of computers and computer systems.  We believe that computer proficiency, particularly in the use of an integrated office suite, is a fundamental part of a St. John's Prep education.  Instruction, especially in the advanced courses, stresses problem-solving processes, object-oriented programming, and documentation skills.  The integration of several common computer applications develops organizational skills, fosters creativity, and further prepares students to participate in an increasingly technological society. The Computer Science Department objectives include:

  • To familiarize the student with computers, their operation, and their varied uses.
  • To teach problem solving by using appropriate object-oriented programming languages.
  • To teach students competence in an integrated office suite and related tools.
  • To foster creativity and develop organizational skills through integration of various computer applications.
