Interns were placed into summer-long paid internships and were provided with a mentor. Summer 2019 applications will open fall 2018. Learn more about Prep2Pro and the program requirements here.

Ray Carey '67 Diversity Fund Golf Tournament – For the first time in its nine-year history the tournament had a sell out crowd raising over $8,000. Funds from this golf tournament, organized by Michael Cronin '79 and Barry Kolano '80, will advance Ray's vision of raising tuition assistance to help students from all backgrounds attend St. John's and go on to make a difference in the world.

Distinguished Alumnus 2018

Pete Frates '03

“There are so many layers of heroism within Pete’s story. He is an amazing role model of resilience, perseverance, inspiration and servant leadership. His family is a model of how people come together to support one another. Today is a testament to how much we believe that Pete exemplifies what we want our students to emulate in their own journey,” said St. John's Headmaster Edward Hardiman, Ph.D. announcing Pete as St. John's Distinguished Alumnus in September 2017.

Prep Pride

Homecoming 2017 – The campus was overflowing with Prep pride as alumni, parents, grandparents, students, friends, and families came together for an all-day celebration on a gorgeous late September day. Events included varsity, JV and freshman soccer games, an alumni soccer game, a Prep water-polo match, the annual Homecoming BBQ complete with family activities and campus tours and concluded with varsity football taking on Malden Catholic. This is a classic fall event you don't want to miss!

Alumni Christmas Party  Alumni enjoyed an evening of holiday merriment at the Union Oyster House, a Boston landmark and America's oldest restaurant. The event, hosted by Joe Milano '62, is a long-standing tradition and an opportunity to celebrate the holiday season with the local Prep community.

Athletic Hall of Fame – The St. John's Prep Athletic Hall of Fame was established in 1985 and is proud to recognize alumni, coaches, and supporters for outstanding contributions to the athletic program at the Prep. Since that time, 245 individuals have been elected to the Hall of Fame, and this year, on May 18, fifteen new inductees joined this distinguished group and became fellow members of the Prep’s Athletic Hall of Fame.

State of the Prep: 5 major Takeaways

Every Gift Tells a Story

During the last week of school, we gave students the opportunity to write thank you notes to faculty and staff members who made a positive impact on their school year. Over the course of just one weekend, 90% of our students took us up on the opportunity. 90%! Their overwhelming response illustrates what a difference faculty and staff make in the lives of our students every day. One 6th grader wrote to his math and science teacher... "Thank you for a great year at SJP. Thank you for answering all of my questions and helping me whenever I need it. You are the nicest teacher I've ever had."

The Fund for St. John's provides the necessary resources to hire top-notch faculty and staff and provide professional development so that they can continue to refine their craft. After all, our most valuable resources at St. John's are the people who teach, mentor, and inspire our students.

We're Here To Help

For more than 14,000 St. John's alumni living around the world, the network of Prep professionals is a remarkable resource. Graduates of every age benefit when they are able to connect across industries, meet rising talents, find mentors, ask for advice from someone who has been there and done that and more. In short, there is nothing more powerful than the sense of community that comes from being a St. John's Prep graduate.

To facilitate this professional connection–and to bring people together for events across the country and around the world-the Prep has made a significant investment in programs and online tools to support all of our graduates' needs and interests. From career development to family fun to lifelong learning, the St. John's alumni office is working hard to ensure that we are growing alongside our graduates from the day they receive their diplomas to their first jobs, reunions and beyond.

The Alumni Office is led by Nibal Awad, Managing Director of Alumni, together with Alumni Engagement Coordinator Paul McNamara '69. With the support of this year's newly restructured Alumni Board, the Alumni Office's top priority was to be a resource for all our graduates.

Thank you for making this year a success! We look forward to seeing you back on campus or at one of our regional events. If you would like to get involved or have an idea to share, email us at alumni@stjohnsprep.org.
