Eagle Skills Camp

Gear up! Eagles Skills Camp prepares young people with the background they need for a successful high school athletic career. We focus on skills and good sportsmanship.

Top coaching! Week long sport-specific sessions are led by the nationally recognized coaching staff from St. John's Prep.

Your choice! Sessions offered in five different sports: baseball, soccer, non-contact lacrosse, non-contact football, and basketball. Full-day (Grades 7-12) and half-day (ages 8 to 11) options available. Details follow!

BASEBALL (July 10-July 14, July 17-July 21)

At baseball skills camp, the day consists of chalk talks, sport-specific instruction, drills and scrimmaging. There's also plenty of time for lunch, cooling off in the pool and snack.

Skills camp is held at the Brother Linus Athletic Commons, home of the St. John's Prep varsity baseball team. The state-of-the-art turf field is equipped with a batting cage and two dugouts.

Staff includes John Barbati, skills camp director; Michael Barbati, assistant director; St. John's Prep baseball coaches; collegiate ball players; and high school coaches.

A half-day option is available; lunch and swimming is not available for half-day option.

SOCCER (July 24-July 28)

The soccer skills camp consists of chalk talks, instruction, drills and scrimmaging on the varsity practice field at Brother Linus Athletic Commons, the location for underclassmen home games at St. John's Prep. The day includes lunch, snack and pool time. (Lunch and pool do not apply for half day campers.)

Dave Crowell, head soccer coach at the Prep, leads the program with the assistance of collegiate players and high school coaches.

BASKETBALL (July 24-July 28 *evenings only*)

Basketball camp is an evening program that offers chalk-talks, sport specific instruction, drills and scrimmaging.

Sessions are held in the Prep's Memorial Gymnasium, which is equipped with two baskets on the main court and six additional baskets, just off the main court.

Instructors include John Dullea, head varsity coach at St. John's, and Prep assistant coaches. Collegiate and high school ball players assist with instruction.

 


LACROSSE (July 31-August 4)

The lacrosse skills camp includes daily chalk talks, instruction, drills and scrimmaging on the varsity practice field at the Brother Linus Athletic Commons. This state-of-the-art turf field is home for underclassmen home games at St. John's. The day also includes lunch, pool time and snack. (Lunch and swim not part of the half-day option.)

Although this is a non-contact camp, lacrosse equipment is required for safety. 

 

FOOTBALL (August 7-August 11, August 14-August 18)

This non-contact football camp puts the emphasis on agility and position-specific drills and skills, as well as fundamentals and stratagies of the game. Each day consists of chalk talks, sport specific instruction and scrimmaging. Lunch, snack and time to cool off in the pool is part of the day.

Sessions are held on the Prep's varsity practice field at the Brother Linus Athletic Commons. The state-of-the-art turf field is home for all underclassmen home games at St. John's.

Staff includes John Barbati, skills camp director; Michael Barbati, assistant director; St. John's Prep varsity football coaches; and collegiate ball players and high school coaches.

Workout clothing required. A half-day option is available; lunch and swimming is not available for half-day options.
